Here is the USFWS policy on using pole traps.

For none US activities, please know your country's laws and regulations regarding the use of pole traps.

This humane trap is a pole mounted trap known as Verbail trap. It is one of two types of pole traps allowed by the USFW for use in the trapping of hawks and owls. Our Verbail trap is similar to the original trap, but it has a few differences (improvements) that makes it even better than the original Verbail trap.

Here are the differences:
Verbail Trap (Original) Modern Falconry's Verbail Trap
When tripped, the Verbail trap's spring flips upward and above the perch towards the bird, which could accidentally hit the bird. ✓ Our trap's spring stays below the perch at all times and flips outward and away from the the bird so there's virtually no chance it can accidentally hit the bird.
No tension adjustments for species specific to prevent accidentally catching small birds. ✓ Our trap can be adjusted so that when small birds such as blue jay, dove, or shore birds such as terns land on the trap, the trap will not trip.
Noose retainer clip is metal, which could potentially injure smaller raptors with delicate legs. ✓ The retainer on our trap is made of the same paracord as the noose, which is much softer on the bird's legs.
When setting the trap, it relies on a trip pin to hold the spring legs in place, which is harder and takes more effort to set. ✓ Our trap doesn't rely on a trip pin. The spring legs are latched directly to the trip perch so setting it is really simple. You just bring the two legs together then latch them into the trip perch.

This item is made to order so please allow 2-4 weeks for fabrication and delivery. It may take longer in the busy fall season.
