This heavy duty ready to use repeating (elevator) sparrow trap is the most effective trap that I have ever used to catch English sparrows. It can catch and hold up to 24 sparrows at one time.

You get the best of both repeating and funnel traps in one trap. In a sense, when a funnel is added, it becomes a starling and sparrow trap!

Funnel used is identical to the one in the Sparrow Funnel Trap.

The Repeating Funnel Trap will give you more chances to catch those sparrows and starlings that are feeding on the ground or along the bottom of the trap and won't jump on the top of the trap to be caught in the elevator.

Although this trap is most effective in catching English Sparrows, it will also catch starlings if they are around and baited with the appropriate bait such as bread, french fries, etc.

Baiting:

For English Sparrows: wild bird seeds, some bread in the containment compartment.
For starlings: bread, french fries, or anything that the starlings are attracted to in your particular area.

Specs:

Trip Mechanism components are made from rust resistance metal and heavy duty 18 gauge 1/2" x 1/2" wire.
The all metal trip mechanism will not absorb moisture like similar traps made by other companies so it's effective even in wet conditions.
Modernized balance beam allowing easy counter balance adjustments for the desired setting.
Heavy duty 16 gauge 1/2" x 1" wire (not the more flimsy 1/2" x 1/2" wire cloth).

I have done extensive sparrow trapping with this trap and found that this size, 14"w x 21"L x 8"H, is the optimum trap for sparrows. The size of the trap doesn't affect it's performance, just making it harder to handle. In fact, this smaller trap is more effective than a larger one because the sparrows will be congregated near the baited compartment when they are on top of the trap so they are more temped to get to the bait and get caught.
