This heavy duty, ready to use, funnel trap, is very effective in catching sparrows. It can catch and hold 20 or more birds at one time. This traditional funnel trap is very effective because it's normally set on the ground and relies on the birds natural ground feeding habit.

This trap is just the right size for ease of transport and yet very effective and has two funnels with opening of 4"W x 3"H, which is just the right size to catch sparrows.

Baiting:

For English Sparrows: wild bird seeds, some bread in the containment compartment.

Main access door on top so you don't have to bend down on your knees to remove the trapped birds if the door is on the side.

I have done extensive sparrow trapping with this trap and found that this size, 14"w x 21"L x 8"H, is the optimum trap for sparrows. The size of the trap doesn't affect it's performance, just making it harder to handle. In fact, this smaller trap is more effective than a larger one because the sparrows will be congregated near the baited compartment when they are on top of the trap so they are more temped to get to the bait and get caught.
